Goodyear celebrates its 120th anniversary, and looks back to the past century. This legendary brand continues to deliver innovative results, bringing an unlimited travel experience for consumers¡£
As an iconic enterprise of American industry worldwide, Goodyear tire & rubber company has played an important role in the evolution of human history and lifestyle since its establishment in 1898. On the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the establishment of the brand, Goodyear leads the tire manufacturing industry to review the pioneering achievements made in the past 100 years. The company will continue to drive innovation and drive a new wave of changes in the travel sector.

Mr Ryan Patterson, President of Goodyear Asia Pacific, said: "Goodyear tire &rubber is one of the few companies that has been linked to many significant milestones in human history. Goodyear, which grew up with almost the entire industry, focused on aerospace at the start of the company and eventually provided tires for the human lunar rover. We are always at the forefront of innovation, committed to providing customers and consumers with excellent products and services to bring unlimited travel experience. Whether it's NASA astronauts, pilots and passengers, formula 1 champions, or ordinary drivers around the world, Goodyear has a wide range of businesses that help users navigate their lives.

Ryan Patterson added, "Goodyear has continued to be a great innovator in the past 120 years, and we will continue to forge ahead in the coming decades."

From the passion track to the lunar landing gear, Goodyear's products have played an important role in exciting and compelling human history. Here are some of the most remarkable achievements Goodyear has made in the past 120 years:
Is working with NASA to develop the first lunar tire

In order to successfully complete the historic journey to the moon in 1971, Goodyear was invited by NASA to develop and manufacture tires for the lunar rover. Unlike the products that Goodyear's engineers had previously developed, the task was challenging and difficult to develop because the pressure levels on the moon were different from the earth's, there was no air at all and the temperature difference between day and night varied widely. However, the Goodyear team took the challenge and eventually designed an innovative solution to ensure that the rover could operate in the most challenging and harsh environments. Since then, Goodyear has embarked on a partnership with NASA that continues today. In 2009, for example, the two sides teamed up to develop an inflatable "spring tire" that could be used on Mars and the moon.
Goodyear is helping humans fly, replacing traditional skid-mounted landing gear
In 1909, the cause of human aviation really took off. Six years after the first plane was launched, Goodyear managed to create the first plane-specific tire product, replacing the fussy, skid-mounted landing gear that came with it. Goodyear's Wing lane aircraft tire is lightweight, durable and easy to load and unload. With the great success of this kind of tyre, planes have been equipped with special tire products ever since. After winning the attention achievement, Goodyear did not stop the pace of innovation. In 1927, the company developed the first tire with a retread surface. The Flight Eagle is designed for small business aircraft in the 1970s. In the 1980s, Goodyear introduced the first federally certified airplane radial tire. Today, Goodyear is one of the world's largest suppliers of tires for commercial, military and general purpose aircraft.

Goodyear set a record of 368 times in F1, and no one has ever surpassed it

The "flying foot" mark of Goodyear and its legend has become a synonym of "victory". By 1998, Goodyear had become the world's largest tire manufacturer with a record 368 formula 1 championships, helping numerous cars and teams to compete. For years, Goodyear has been at the forefront of innovation. At present, Goodyear produces and provides more than 100,000 tyres per year for the nascar series. Every Goodyear nascar tyre is invested with the efforts of the research and development workers in the global headquarter of Goodyear. To be a pioneer, to share passion and to help the brand grow together is the spiritual bond of the close cooperation between Goodyear and nascar. Continued cooperation with nasca, which has a large fan base, will also help Goodyear to maintain its leading brand status in the industry.
Goodyear pioneered the use of soybean oil as a rubber tire

Goodyear is the first company to use soybean oil as raw material for synthetic rubber, aiming to optimize the performance of tire products in dry wetlands and winter road conditions. Goodyear's team of engineers and scientists developed the tread complex using naturally renewable soybean oil, which has the advantage of carbon balance, helping to reduce energy consumption. Goodyear found that making tire products from soybean oil effectively ensures that the flexibility of synthetic rubber material is not affected by temperature changes. Thanks to this technology, the performance of Goodyear related tire products has been significantly improved, which helps ensure and further enhance the performance of the vehicle's grip. Goodyear's test results show that in certain types of tyre production, rubber made from soybean oil is easier to mix with sio 2 - enhanced composite, which helps to improve production efficiency and reduce energy consumption. The commercial application of soybean oil in tire manufacturing is the latest breakthrough in the tire technology field of Goodyear. In addition, Goodyear is actively exploring the possibility of putting various new materials into tire manufacturing in recent years, including the promotion and application of new rice husk grey silica raw material in some passenger car tires. Carbon fiber, Du Bangkai fulla layer fiber (DuPont ™ Kevlar ®) and volcanic sand raw materials such as widely used. All these achievements have laid a foundation for the success of this research and development project.
Goodyear introduced the concept tires for future travel: the Eagle 360 smart spherical tire and the Eagle 360 Urban concept tire

At the 2016 Geneva international auto show, Goodyear grandly released the Eagle-360 intelligent spherical tire, showing the company's beautiful vision of future travel. The spherical concept tire is a bionic design with revolutionary handling and mobile interconnection features designed for autonomous vehicles. The spherical design supports the 360-degree omnidirectional rotation of the vehicle, bringing a safe riding experience to passengers. At the same time, the spherical design can also cope with the problem of space limitations, making it convenient for vehicles to walk through city streets or park in narrow Spaces. Embedded sensors can feed back road and weather conditions to vehicle control systems and surrounding vehicles to improve driving safety. In addition, the tread and tire pressure monitoring device can help to balance tire wear and extend the driving distance. Although the Eagle 360 is currently only a concept, it embodies Goodyear's innovative strategy and vision of focusing on safety and smart travel.
At the 2017 Geneva international auto show, Goodyear unveiled the new Eagle 360 Urban concept tire, which demonstrates a series of cutting-edge trendy technologies and presents a beautiful vision for the future automobile industry. With the concept of driverless cars and urban Shared travel gradually becoming the trend of The Times, Goodyear helps to promote the continuous evolution of human travel ecosystem. Goodyear is committed to revolutionizing the field of interactive experience with tires, vehicles and the surrounding environment. Two brand new concept tires -- spherical Eagle 360 Urban concept tire and intelligent rip Urban intelligent tire -- use emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and V2X interconnection technology to enable future autonomous vehicles to easily cope with various possible situations in daily driving scenarios.

On Goodyear China

In September 1994, Goodyear became the first foreign tire enterprise to invest and build a factory in China, and established dalian Goodyear tire co., LTD. In November 2008, Goodyear dalian became a wholly owned company by Goodyear through share acquisition.
